Navigating the complexities of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can be overwhelming, but a dedicated NDIS support coordinator can play a pivotal role in enhancing your wellbeing.

Support coordination is an important service that can assist people with disabilities navigate the NDIS and make sense of all that the NDIS has to offer. Another benefit of this service is that it can take a lot of the stress away in a number of different ways, as explained in further detail below.

Support coordinators can assist with anything and everything to do with your NDIS and mainstream supports, including monitoring your budget, engaging with providers, arranging for reports to be prepared and assisting with NDIS plan reassessment meetings. The NDIS can be a very confusing and stressful system to understand, so support coordinators can help reduce that stress by helping with these tasks.

For example, say you need an OT urgently to complete an updated report; the support coordination will make contact with a number of different providers, asking what their availability is and how soon they can start, arrange for referrals to be made, make sure service agreements are within your budget, and continue to follow up to ensure reports are completed on time. This work allows you to focus on other things in your life without having to do the running around trying to organise things.

A support coordinator will check in with you regularly to make sure your supports are meeting your needs and can follow up to address any issues quickly for you. They will connect you with supports to help build your capacity and to achieve your goals and will be with you every step of the way.
