”An important update about the future of Focal’s services.
Focal has been part of the Ipswich community since 1974, supporting people with disability, their families and carers. Many of you have known Focal for a long time. You may have familiar staff, regular routines, local teams you know, and supports that are part of everyday life.
As you may be aware Focal has found the NDIS environment challenging and needed to find a pathway forward with a provider that could ensure its sustainability and longevity into the future. Following approval by Focal members, Focal Community Services will now transition our services and operations to Achieve Australia.
Achieve was selected as Focal’s transition partner because of its shared purpose, its experience supporting people with disability for more than 70 years, and the team’s ability to continue services over the long term.
We understand that a change like this may raise questions. For participants, families and guardians, the most important thing is knowing what will happen to your supports, who will be involved, and how you will be kept informed.
Focal and Achieve will work closely together through the transition. The priority is to keep supports as consistent as possible, make the process clear, and ensure participants, families and guardians know what is happening at each step.
In the immediate term, your services and routines are expected to continue as they are. Focal and Achieve will work together to support continuity wherever possible, including the continuity of employment for the majority of familiar support workers and local service teams.
As the transition progresses, Achieve will take the time to understand each person’s current supports, routines and preferences. This will include working with Focal staff and local teams, so important information is carried through, and support can continue with as little disruption as possible.
Focal and Achieve are working towards completing the transition by 3 August 2026. Over the coming weeks, we will provide more information about what this means for you through consistent communications, one-to-one meetings and group information sessions.
Throughout the process Focal and Achieve team members will be available to provide more information and answer any questions. There will be opportunities to talk through what the transition means for you and your supports.
