We are reaching out to let you know of some important changes at Focal including a major proposal that is underway, as these may be relevant to people you support who currently access our services.
What is happening?
Support coordination and School-based programs
You may have already heard that Focal is exiting from Support Coordination and the team are in the process of transitioning participants across to other support coordination services. This will be concluded by 26 June 2026.
In addition, at the end of this school term Focal will no longer operate in-school programs at Claremont and Sunnybank Special Schools. The schools and families have been advised, and you may work with families that will be seeking support to find after school or vacation care services.
Proposal to transfer services
We are also pleased to announce that Focal Community Services and Achieve Australia are working together on a proposal regarding the potential transfer of Focal’s other services. While this is not formalised, we have advised clients of the possibility so want you to also have these details. Achieve Australia is a trusted and well-regarded provider, and Focal is positive about what this opportunity could mean for the future. The proposed transition of services will take place in late July, with an exact date to be confirmed as we move through these changes.
Importantly this proposal is about continuity of existing supports or programs.
What’s not changing?
All services and programs being delivered at the time of transition will continue without changes to any services or schedules. Clients will be offered the opportunity to continue their current arrangements unchanged, with Focal and Achieve Australia committed to continuity of our support worker workforce.
These services include community access, in-home support, respite and group activity programs for children and adults.
What will this mean for the people you support?
It is important that you feel you have the information you need to support your participants and we will aim to keep you informed. We ask that you please update any contact details relating to Focal clients to support that.
