Focal’s Vacation and After-School Care Services offer fun, affordable out-of-school care for children and young people with disability.

With the NDIS now rolled out in the Ipswich region, Focal is offering individualised in-home and community access supports to children and young people. The most notable of these is ‘The Fab Focal Club’ – an NDIS Vacation Care Service being launched in the 2017-18 Christmas holidays. Learn more about The Fab Focal Club!

Our philosophy

At Focal, we provide services for children and young people which:

  • foster a positive self-esteem and self-concept: each and every child is individual and unique;
  • are stimulating, flexible and responsive to the needs of children’s growth and development (physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative);
  • reflect a diversity of needs, interests and abilities;
  • provide opportunities for children to actively explore their own environment and learn through play and discovery;
  • provide a safe and welcoming environment for children, families, staff and community members; and
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with children, families, staff and the community, who work together to provide a quality service.

CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE FACT SHEET

Focal runs several after-school care activities, including cooking, arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, movies and gaming. The group will go shopping or go to the park once a term to change things up a bit.

Our service runs from 2:45pm to 5:30pm at a cost of $15 per child, per session. Check with Centrelink as you may be eligible for the Child Care Benefit (CCB) fee reduction for this service.

Child Care Benefit

CCB is a payment made by the Commonwealth Government to help families with the cost of quality child care. Please contact the Family Assistance Office (FAO) to test your eligibility to claim CCB.

Families need to lodge the CCB application and produce all relevant documentation to the FAO. It is also your responsibility to inform the FAO of any changes of circumstances which may affect their CCB.

Contact the FAO on 13 61 50.
